Understanding and Supporting Regulation for Learning **

Self-regulation and social communication underlie our ability to succeed, both socially and academically. This interactive, strategy-based presentation will provide an overview of the pillars of successful regulation, and how strong regulation skills allow for improved learning. Participants will learn innovative tools (applicable for K-12) for collaborating across disciplines to support students in improving their sensory-regulation, self-regulation, emotional-regulation, and social competencies.

Topics include:
• Importance of regulated brain and body for learning
• Components of regulation/terminology
• Domain-specific tools and strategies
• Hands-on breakout activities (optional and varied, depending on time):
– Practice SST/parent meetings
– Creation of “strategy booklets”
– Make-and-take for activities and resources
