- Susan Stark
PresidentSusan has been in private practice for over ten years in the Bay Area. She is a graduate from Eastern Illinois University and received a Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Texas Tech. Susan has expertise in the management of neurological communication disorders and language learning disorders with extensive experience as a speech/language pathologist in hospitals, medical facilities, special education settings, and home health care.
- Barbara Taylor
Vice President of OperationsBarbara is a graduate of Ithaca College and received a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology from Columbia University in New York. Barbara has extensive experience servicing preschool and school age populations within a variety of school settings in California and Arizona. She has specialized in articulation/phonological disorders, language delays, hearing loss/deafness, and social/pragmatic disorders. Barbara has facilitated collaborative service delivery models within the classroom and has expertise in curriculum/classroom modifications for speech and language disordered students to achieve greater academic and social success. She has presented numerous instructional workshops for colleagues and school personnel on topics relating to special education laws, implementing the Student Study Team process, classroom interventions, and character education.
- Jenny Ogar
Director of School-Based ServicesJenny received her Master of Science in Communicative Disorders at San Francisco State University in 2000. She has a wide range of experience working with speech and language disorders in both children and adults, as a clinician, researcher, university instructor and SLP/CF supervisor. Jenny has published a number of research articles related to primary progressive aphasia (PPA), apraxia of speech and variants of aphasia due to stroke. She has also developed apps, books and parent education related to early literacy. Her areas of interest include aphasia, semantic dementia, ADHD, dyslexia, autism and motor speech disorders. She has particularly enjoyed working with multidisciplinary diagnostic teams to develop school-based and family-centered treatment plans.
- Mary Piermarini
Director of School-Based ServicesMary received her Bachelor degree in Communication Disorders and her Master degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Worcester State College in Worcester, MA. Mary has worked with preschool children and school-age students in public school settings. She has been active in collaborating with classroom teachers and adapting curriculum materials to enhance students' learning potentials. Mary has extensive experience working with articulation/phonological disorders, auditory processing disorders, language delays and pre-literacy skills. She has presented seminars for graduate students at Bay Area Universities on a variety of subjects, including picture communication systems and "Navigating Through the CFY/ RPE Maze."
- Tricia Dausses

Clinical SupervisorTricia received her Master Degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from California State University, East Bay in Hayward. After several years of working in acute, sub-acute, and long term medical settings with adults, Tricia followed her passion to work with children. For the past ten years she has focused on pediatrics; assessing and providing treatment to children with speech and language delays and disorders associated with the Autistic Spectrum. She has extensive experience in early intervention focusing on implementing communication strategies such as Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS). She has provided both professional and parent training as well as supervision for CF clinicians, graduate interns, and SLPAs in a center-based setting.

Clinical SupervisorKimberly is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and received a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She began her career as a travelling Speech Pathologist working primarily with adults in skilled nursing facilities throughout Florida for two years. For the past 12 years Kimberly has worked extensively with pediatrics in a variety of settings including public schools, preschools, early intervention centers, children's hospitals, and home health care in Northern and Southern California. She has specialized in articulation/phonological disorders, language delays/disorders, social pragmatics, autism spectrum disorders, and traumatic brain injury. She currently provides clinical supervision and management of SLPs and SLPAs in school-based settings in Orange County.
- Sean Green
Clinical SupervisorSean received his Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University, Sacramento. As a graduate student, Sean participated in the "Samoa Project". This team created an assessment tool to collect speech and language data from elementary aged children in American Samoa. Sean helped to train educators on administration of the assessment tool while in American Samoa. Sean has worked primarily with pre-school and elementary aged students in the public school setting. Sean has been part of the BEST team (Building Effective Schools Together), and has worked closely with administration and teachers on developing behavioral expectations for elementary sites. Sean has made it a priority to work with SDC teachers, general education teachers, full inclusion specialists, psychologists and on site administration in order to promote a multidisciplinary team approach to serving students. Sean has extensive experience with articulation, phonological processes, phonological awareness, language delays and social skills training.
- Leah Huang

Clinical SupervisorLeah received her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from California State University, East Bay and is a certified Board Certified Behavior Analyst. From accent modification therapy to pragmatics and social skills, Leah has provided services in schools, private, and hospital settings, working with the early intervention through adult populations. Leah has special interests in Autism Spectrum Disorders, specifically in Special Day Class programs and parent/caregiver training and collaboration. In addition to clinical supervision, Leah has worked both locally and abroad for the Bosnia Autism Project with SPG: Children Services International. As a behavior analyst, Leah has had experience supporting Registered Behavior Technicians, collaborating on Functional Behavior Assessments, and implementing behavior intervention strategies for students with special needs.
- Anna Marie Krajčin
M.S., CCC-SLP, BCBA
Clinical SupervisorAnna received her Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Missouri State University. She has extensive experience providing pediatric speech and language therapy to children with a variety of disorders, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. As a Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) Implementer, Anna has provided instructional workshops to professionals and families on how to apply PECS in the home or classroom. Anna has also served as a member of the Bosnia Speech and Hearing Project since 2001. As a volunteer with this project she has provided language intervention to hearing impaired children, and has served as a clinical supervisor for undergraduate students studying Speech Pathology in Eastern Europe. She currently provides clinical supervision and management of CFY therapists and SLPAs in a variety of educational settings and center-based environments.
- Jane Krider
Clinical SupervisorJane joined the SPG team in 2001, when she relocated to California with her husband and daughter, after living in eight different states! Jane has been providing speech and language services for SDC and general education students in the Fairfield- Suisun Unified School District for the last 12 years at one of the district’s elementary sites. Her extensive background consisting of 35 years of clinical and supervisory experience in a variety of settings (clinics, hospitals and rehab centers) has contributed to her clinical expertise in treating and diagnosing a wide range of disorders. Jane is often asked to evaluate or consult on many of the district’s complex cases, which is a true testament to her longevity in the district and well-earned respect. Jane is looking forward to working with and supporting all the wonderful school-based SPG therapists as she assumes additional clinical supervision responsibilities. She will also participate in SPG’s professional development program as a “new” presenter and contributor to our workshop topics.
- Jennifer Lopez
Clinical SupervisorJennifer received her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University- East Bay in 1999. She has experience working with a diverse population of children and adults across medical, school and private settings. Jennifer has worked extensively with early intervention; incorporating in-home services with parent/caregiver education. She has worked with children from 18 months to 18 years of age. Jennifer has consulted with many schools on assessments, teacher trainings and classroom-based therapy services. She has experience treating a wide range of communicative disorders including, Autism Spectrum Disorder, social pragmatics, articulation, receptive and expressive language delays, motor speech disorders, fluency and speech and language issues associated with Down Syndrome Disorder. Jennifer has taken continued education courses in PECS, Social Thinking Curriculum, and Hanen Centre based language development. Currently, Jennifer provides therapy and assessment services in the public schools as well as offers clinical support to SLPs in schools throughout the East Bay.
- Mengting Shieh
Clinical SupervisorMengting received her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She has experience throughout Chicago, the Bay Area, and internationally working with children and adults who have speech and language disorders in both the public schools and private settings. Mengting has worked extensively with treatment and assessment of a variety of disorders including articulation, social pragmatics, language delays, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. She has been a Clinical Consultant with Hope's Promise since 2008, traveling with teams to Kenya and Vietnam to provide intervention and training as well as ongoing remote consultation. She has also been active in collaborating with medical teams in Taiwan to provide training on dysphagia intervention for the Mennonite Christian Hospital in Hualien, Taiwan. Mengting has previously served as a Clinical Supervisor for California State University, East Bay and as the Founding Clinical Supervisor for PresenceLearning.
- Maret Wilson
Clinical SupervisorMaret is a graduate of St. Olaf College and received a Master of Arts degree in Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Minnesota. During graduate school, Maret completed an emphasis in Bilingual/Multicultural issues in Speech-Language Pathology. She is Spanish-English bilingual and specializes in assessment and treatment of bilingual children, and those coming from various cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Maret is an advocate for use of alternative assessment means in order to differentiate language disorders from language differences. Currently, Maret conducts bilingual assessments in the public schools and provides clinical supervision and support to school-based SLPs.
- Anna Zollar
Clinical SupervisorAnna received her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of the Pacific. She began her career working with adults in skilled nursing facilities and later went on to work in early intervention, providing in-home speech and language therapy services to the birth to three population. For the last six years Anna has worked in the school setting, providing services to a large percentage of English Language Learners, along with supervising a number of clinical fellows. She currently provides clinical support and supervision to school-based SLPs and SLPAs throughout the Contra Costa area.
- Kathy Beatty
Clinical Supervisor – AACKathy received a Master of Arts in Speech and Language Pathology from Kent State University in Ohio. During her 35+ years as an SLP, she has worked as an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) /Assistive Technology (AT) specialist, SLP/CF supervisor, and director of therapy services (OT/PT/SLP/APE). Kathy's focus has been in the areas of AAC/AT and developing language for the severely impaired, autistic and deaf/hard of hearing populations. Kathy has presented in the areas of AAC, AT, mobile tablets, evidence-based apps, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and social skills. She presented at the ASHA Schools Conference in 2010 on "Promoting Social Interactions Among AAC Users" and has been recognized by the Ohio Center for Autism and Low Incidence as a member of a Model Autism Team for communication skills development. Kathy has been the lead SLP for "Conversation Club" in the Oakland Unified School District, a weekly group of 20+ young adults who use AAC or need continued communication practice. Her passion is helping every student to find a voice.
- Betsy Caporale
Clinical Supervisor – AACBetsy has been working in the field of speech-language pathology for over 20 years, specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorders and Augmentative-Alternative Communication (AAC). She has provided assessment and consultation services to school districts throughout Northern California, and has presented nationally and internationally on topics related to autism, AAC and Complex Communication Needs. Betsy graduated from the University of Redlands with a B.S. in Communicative Disorders and Sciences, and earned an M.S. in Speech Pathology from California State University, East Bay. She has a Competency Certificate in Communication Assistive Technology and Applications awarded by the National Association of State Directors of Special Education, Institute for Assistive and Training Technologies. She is also a Certified Assistive Technology Specialist-Communication Services, awarded by the University of South Florida. Betsy served as a research reviewer for the National Professional Development Center, 2014 Evidence-Based Practices for Children, Youth, and Young Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder report, and has completed the requirements for their Autism Internet Module Certification.
- Jeeva John
Clinical Supervisor – AACJeeva received a Bachelor's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Bangalore, India in 2000. Following which she gained experience working in rural clinics and multidisciplinary early intervention programs in Bangalore, thus building a foundation and passion for training families and teachers of children with Autism and Complex Communication Needs in low socio-economic communities. Jeeva received her Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Bowling Green State University, Ohio in 2008. She has since then primarily provided services to school districts in the Bay Area and has also gained experience working in private, non-profit clinics and skilled nursing facilities. Jeeva has a certificate in Assistive Technology (AT) and now works as an Assistive Technology/ Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AT/AAC) Specialist. She is currently developing AT/AAC intervention and training programs with the AT/AAC team at SPG. She also supports other AT/AAC Specialists and SLPs with a keen interest in AT/AAC through the AAC Special Interest Group Mentorship Program at SPG.
- Jenna Williams
Lead AAC SpecialistJenna received a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Chapman University, where her passion for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) sparked while hosting summer camps for high-tech device users and building iOS applications. Upon moving to the Bay Area Jenna has primarily provided services to AAC users in schools. Jenna has presented at both ASHA and CSHA, and universities across California on topics relating to AAC. She also supports other AT/AAC Specialists who participate in the AAC Special Interest Group Mentorship Program at SPG.
