The Legally Defensible SLP

Presented by Barbara J. Moore, Ed.D. CCC-SLP (3 hrs)

School-based speech-language pathologists and audiologists often face competing masters of following the evidence-base of the professions and the guidance from ASHA, the legal requirements of the IDEA and the pressures of the work place. This session will review hot legal issues in schools from the professional perspective of our disciplines, the legal and the administrative perspective of administration and current court decisions. Identifying resource, strategies and actions for common areas of conflict seen in legal cases and by ASHA will be addressed.
