Establishing a Foundation for Student Engagement: Strategies for Making Therapy Sessions More Effective *

This presentation will provide participants with effective strategies needed to successfully engage students in individual and small group settings. Identifying appropriate prompting and reinforcement strategies are crucial fundamental concepts in establishing a foundation for students to engage in therapy. Implementation, modeling, and videos will be included. Participants will receive practical handouts and will have an opportunity to practice many of the strategies introduced.

Learner Objectives:

  • The learner will learn and identify a process to implement three types of prompting strategies
  • The learner will learn and identify a process to implement for three types of reinforcement strategies
  • The learner will practice prompting and reinforcement strategies for use in their therapy.
