“My family would certainly recommend using the Adult Services of SPG. Late 2009, mom had a stroke resulting in severe Aphasia and Apraxia. Immediately after discharging from an acute rehabilitation center, we engaged SPG (initially Janel and later Lisa) to continue the intensive speech language therapy that she had been receiving. SPG was able to establish a similar protocol within a couple down days. Initially, Janel would come to the assisted living facility and later when she was more mobile mom attended office sessions. Over the course of a year, mom had significant receptive gains and some improvement in expression through the use of Augmentative Alternative Communication (iPad & App), a communication book, phonemic cues, gestures etc. As mom developed a friendly relationship with Janel, her view of the sessions was less about therapy and more about a somewhat normal social exchange – a big pressure reliever for her. With the direction/help of SPG and others, we felt good about pushing the envelope beyond the all too familiar Medicare/HMO boundaries that seem to inhibit solution finding.” ~ Charles

“Following my husband’s CVA (stroke), Speech Pathology Group has been a wonderful help and resource in his speech rehabilitation. He lost all speech and language with a massive right side CVA in April 2011. Insurance provided speech therapy would never provide the amount of therapy needed to recover speech and language. Their guidelines require quick constant measurable results, but speech recovery requires slow constant work and has plateaus. Supplementing the spotty on and off insurance provided program with a consistent weekly program from Speech Pathology Group has been invaluable to his recovery. They have been very understanding and flexible with his limited abilities, tailoring the program to meet his needs. When his endurance was limited, they provided shorter initial sessions, and when he has had health challenges that have landed him in the hospital for several months to deal with other issues associated with the CVA, they reserve him a spot. We are now at the one year anniversary of the CVA, life is settling down, progress is continuing and we truly appreciate the amazing help that our therapist has given to aid in speech and language recovery.” ~ Terrie H.

“My mother had a severe stroke and had to be cared for in a convalescent home. I came across the speech pathology group via the internet and am eternally grateful to them! Barbara Berry visits my mom twice a week for speech therapy and has shown such deep care and gentleness in treating her. Despite my mom’s severe state she has shown marked progress and has been able to assemble more coherent phrases. Also, staff members come up to me and mention how impressed they are with her patience and care. It means a lot to me to have my mom in such good and loving hands.” ~ Ben D.

  • “I highly recommend the Speech Pathology Group for any cochlear implant user. The entire staff is welcoming and professional!”

“I highly recommend the Speech Pathology Group for any cochlear implant user. The entire staff is welcoming and professional! As a bilateral cochlear implant patient, I was both excited and overwhelmed by the retraining process involved after activation. I was delighted to find there was an opportunity close to my home for an auditory therapist. There are not a lot of choices for auditory therapy for adults in the Bay Area. Lisa, at The Speech Pathology group helped me navigate the Sound and Way Beyond Software. Together we set realistic goals and each week I gained confidence with this new way of hearing. At 7 months post activation, I am able to participate in most any conversation and am even using the telephone with increasing success.” ~ Sherie
